This February, we’re kicking off the preorder for 1943: Race to Rabaul, a game designed by the legendary Volko Ruhnke and brought to life by the unmistakable art of Donald Hegarty, whose work you may already know from Unhappy King Charles. It’s a combination we’re genuinely proud of.
In 1943, the Allied advance across the Pacific reached a breaking point. Every move toward Rabaul came at a cost, overstretched supply lines, tough decisions, and plans that rarely survived first contact with the enemy. 1943: Race to Rabaul drops you right into that tension.
For the first time in the series, the game introduces fully opposed play. You can play cooperatively or head-to-head, with one or two players taking command of the Japanese forces and one or two leading the Americans. Both sides are racing for momentum, both are constantly short on resources, and both are trying to stay one step ahead before their options simply run out.
The map is vast, logistics are unforgiving, and every decision matters. Ambition always meets resistance here, and the road to Rabaul is anything but straightforward.
1943: Race to Rabaul will be live on GAMEFOUND this February.
