The comments offer an early look at how the next season of the series may unfold.
Dario Scardapane hints Luke Cage and Jessica Jones will have a bigger role now
The future of Daredevil: Born Again could involve a much stronger focus on Luke Cage and Jessica Jones. Showrunner Dario Scardapane recently indicated that both characters are expected to become increasingly important as the Marvel series moves toward its third season.
While speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Scardapane addressed speculation surrounding Luke Cage’s involvement in the upcoming season. When asked whether the character would have a larger role moving forward, the showrunner suggested that the speculation might be true. He said, “Yeah. I think that’s something that you could say.”
Scardapane also admitted that keeping details about the new season secret has become difficult, particularly with production currently underway. “It’s funny, [Marvel is] on me not to say anything, and then there’s pictures all over the place, but I understand it. The relationship between Luke Cage and Jessica Jones, we start that picture of those three people, that family, at the end of Episode 8 in this season. The questions and the story that starts there play into Season 3, absolutely,” he explained.
Season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again concluded with major changes for several key characters. Following the chaos that unfolded in New York City, Matt Murdock, portrayed by Charlie Cox, revealed his identity as Daredevil and ultimately went to prison. The finale also reunited Jessica Jones and Luke Cage on screen, with Krysten Ritter and Mike Colter returning to their roles after years away from the franchise.
As of now, Marvel has not officially outlined the scope of their involvement in Season 3.
