HBO Max will see multiple titles leaving its streaming library later this month, including five movies based on an iconic Marvel superhero. They received varying reactions from audiences and critics at the time of their releases. However, the films have nonetheless carved a space for themselves in pop culture.

Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man movies to leave HBO Max

Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy, starring Tobey Maguire, and Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man films, starring Andrew Garfield in the title role, are the Marvel films leaving HBO Max on April 30, 2026. Accordingly, subscribers have just under two weeks to stream these popular titles before their departure (via Unilad Tech).

Raimi and Maguire’s first Spider-Man movie premiered in theaters on May 3, 2002. The film’s story explores the titular hero’s origins, showing how he received and developed his powers. It also depicts his conflict with the malicious Green Goblin, played by Willem Dafoe.

The film’s first sequel, Spider-Man 2, arrived two years later on June 30, 2004. Set two years after the previous movie, it follows Peter Parker as he struggles to balance his personal life with his heroic responsibilities while confronting Doctor Octopus, played by Alfred Molina.

The last film in the trilogy, Spider-Man 3, swung into theaters on May 4, 2007. Unlike its predecessors, it garnered mixed critical reception at the time of release. However, it steadily built a cult following in subsequent years. The story sees the webslinger go up against three new enemies: his former best friend, Harry Osborn/New Goblin, played by James Franco, Sandman, played by Thomas Haden Church, and Eddie Brock’s Venom, played by Topher Grace.

Following Spider-Man 3’s release and Spider-Man 4’s cancellation, the franchise rebooted with The Amazing Spider-Man. Starring Andrew Garfield as the titular hero, the narrative once again explored the character’s origins while showing him going up against the Lizard, played by Rhys Ifans. The film premiered on July 3, 2012.

Its sequel, The Amazing Spider-Man 2, hit theaters on May 2, 2014. In the film, Peter Parker tries to protect his girlfriend, Gwen Stacy, played by Emma Stone, from danger, which strains their relationship. He also faces a new villain, Electro, played by Jamie Foxx, and reunites with his childhood friend, Harry Osborn, played by Dane DeHaan.
