Smelling one of the best floral perfumes feels like the first days of warmer weather after a long, cold winter. Even if it’s currently below freezing, they can evoke the feel-good brightness of a temperate day or the sweetness and headiness of an ice cream-induced sugar trip, all with just a few spritzes. Plus, with so many new fragrances to choose from, you'll find much more than just your garden-variety blooms here, extending beyond rose perfumes into more far-flung notes like frangipani and banana blossom that you might need a passport to sniff otherwise. So, we invite you to take an aromatic journey with us and try out our team’s all-time favorite flower-powered fragrances, including modern hits from Parfums de Marly (our top pick, by the way) and Phlur and Allure Best of Beauty winners à la Ellis Brooklyn and Jo Malone.

Best Overall: Parfums de Marly Delina Eau de Parfum
Parfums de Marly
Delina Eau de Parfum
Allure commerce writer Jennifer Hussein holding a bottle of Parfums de Marly Delina Eau de Parfum
Why it's worth it: Parfums de Marly is a fragrance line dedicated to the extravagance of bygone French royalty, and its Delina perfume feels like sinking your teeth into a rich, sugar-spiking gateau. Sharp notes of rhubarb and bergamot in this Allure Best of Beauty Award winner lend an edge to the sweet Turkish rose and vanilla that greet you upon first sniff for a sensual experience that's both indulgently sweet and tart. Like a field in the south of France, this best-selling scent also features soft floral top notes of lily of the valley and peony. "Delina has been my go-to date night fragrance for almost two years now," says associate beauty editor Annie Blay. "I love how light and feminine the scent is and how the powdery dry-down gives it a sensual feel—not to mention the pink bottle looks pretty sitting on my vanity."
Tester feedback: “I love a fragrance that takes me on a journey, and Parfum de Marly's Delina does exactly that,” says commerce writer Jennifer Hussein. “It starts as a true floral that celebrates the powdery depth of damascena rose, but once it dries down, its warm base notes of vanilla and musk come through to balance all the floweriness.”
Key notes: rhubarb, lychee, bergamot, lily of the valley, Turkish rose, vanilla, peony | Available sizes: 1 ounce, 2.5 ounces (also available as a hair mist)
Best Classic Floral: Ellis Brooklyn Florist Eau de Parfum
Ellis Brooklyn
Florist Eau de Parfum
Lexi Herrick, Allure senior director of audience development, holding a bottle of the Ellis Brooklyn Florist Eau de Parfum
Why it's worth it: It's tough to miss Ellis Brooklyn's Florist in a lineup. From one of our favorite fragrance brands, the bright pink bottle is an homage to the vibrancy of freshly cut flowers, and the traditional floral notes within feel like the perfect olfactory interpretation of their packaging. Tuberose, jasmine, and gardenia are three fragrant flowers you'd want to bend down to sniff in person and bottled, the three combine for a delightfully heady bouquet of scents. Meanwhile, the slight hints of pear are the secret to the fruity-floral sauce that layers in subtle, but not sickly sweetness. "This is the floral perfume for people who think they don't like floral perfumes," says content director Kara McGrath. "The classic floral notes—tuberose, jasmine, gardenia—are balanced out by amber and pear that give it a unique touch of sweetness without leaning too sugary."
Tester feedback: “I will forever be a sucker for a floral scent, and Florist by Ellis Brooklyn is one of my absolute favorites,” says Lexi Herrick, senior director of audience development. “The light, breezy scent transports you to a sunny afternoon walking through a lush garden. It's long-lasting, lush, and the perfect amount of intensity for any season.”
Key notes: Tuberose, gardenia, honeysuckle, jasmine, pear | Available sizes: 0.33 ounces, 1.7 ounces
Best Warm Floral: Phlur Missing Person Eau de Parfum
Phlur
Missing Person Eau de Parfum
Allure tester Talia Gutierrez holding a bottle of the Phlur Missing Person Eau de Parfum
Why it's worth it: Phlur's aptly named Missing Person evokes the memory of a former connection or someone you deeply love, and a whiff of the nostalgic scent has been known to inspire actual tears. Refreshing musk and citrus notes give way to sandalwood and neroli blossom to create that striking sense of familiarity. Our editors found the scent is light and subtle enough to layer under other floral fragrances, with just the right balance of notes to draw out different emotions in everyone. These range of motions includes “the feeling [of] waking up on a Sunday morning in the summer,” as associate features director Dianna Mazzone Singh put it.
Tester feedback: “Making the decision to not read any details on the notes of this fragrance before smelling it, I wanted to give myself the opportunity to have a pure first impression—no premeditated opinions,” says tester Talia Gutierrez. “As I pressed down on the transparent, peach-colored bottle's pump, I smelled the fresh and musky notes, which quickly transitioned into a warm floral. I was pleasantly surprised by Missing Person's ability to pluck things out of my memory bank like magic, yet the scent was curiously subtle overall. So much so that I gave my skin a few more generous spritzes before jotting down the emotions that came flooding in.”
Key notes: musk, bergamot, jasmine | Available sizes: 0.32 ounces, 1.7 ounces, and a set that includes both sizes
Best Creamy Floral: Jo Malone London Frangipani Flower Cologne
Jo Malone London
Frangipani Flower Cologne
Allure content director Kara McGrath holding a bottle of the Jo Malone London Frangipani Flower Cologne
Why it's worth it: Jo Malone has more well-known floral scents among its all-star roster, but its newer Frangipani fragrance is another name to know if you want a blissful perfume that can take you through the end of summer Fridays. The elegant sun-like bottle gives away that this is a solar floral, opening up with a spritz of lemon like a cocktail, then drying down to a warm sandalwood and frangipani base that recalls tropical locales like Bali and Hawaii where the flower blooms.
Tester feedback: “Jo Malone London doesn't really miss when it comes to floral fragrances, but I'm partial to this one that blends jasmine, sandalwood, and (obviously) frangipani,” says McGrath. “It's really delicate and fresh, but has hints of warmth and sweetness. I'm writing this in the middle of a snowstorm, and even still the scent is evoking the feeling of walking through a garden on a tropical island.”
Key notes: lemon, jasmine, frangipani, sandalwood | Available sizes: 0.33 ounces, 1 ounce, and 3.3. ounces
Best Musky Floral: Elorea Git Eau de Parfum
Allure commerce editor Sarah Han holding a bottle of the Elorea Git Eau de Parfum
Why it's worth it: Go on an aromatic adventure with the Elorea Git Eau de Parfum, a scent that combines the soft, slight earthiness of florals and combines them with hazy musk. At first spritz, this sophisticated scent blossoms with aromas of peony and lotus while hints of rose, lychee, and iris creep through. As it dries down, you’ll notice its subtly floral profile intensify in pungency with its warm musky base.
Tester feedback: “My Chinese name means flower, so it’s pretty much destined that I am drawn towards floral scents—and it was love at first sniff with Git at the Elorea store in SoHo, NYC,” says commerce editor Sarah Han. “I love that it’s a multifaceted floral scent with a blend of lotus, peony, iris, and rose and the musky dry-down adds a lovely twist at the end. Git refers to the collar design of a Korean hanbok, which reminds me of the Chinese qipaos I used to wear for Chinese-school celebrations growing up. Needless to say, the Asian-inspired roots hit close to home, and what is scent if not connected to memories?”
Key notes: peony, lotus, rose, iris lychee, musk | Available sizes: 3.4 ounces
Best Gourmand Floral: Infiniment Coty Paris Atomes Crochus Parfum
Infiniment Coty
Atomes Crochus Parfum
Allure commerce producer Sarah Hoffmann holding a bottle of the Infiniment Coty Paris Atomes Crochus Parfum
Why it's worth it: The star note of the Infiniment Coty Paris Atomes Crochus Parfum is honeysuckle, a sweet, floral treat to the senses. Its gourmand-leaning profile takes a swift turn with smoked green tea, a fiery and slightly more pungent take on the usual earthy note. Its sweet yet hazy profile ends with a heady, tanned smoked leather accord to create an entirely unique and much more savory departure from the current hyper-sweet vibe of most modern gourmands that we find all the more appetizing.
Tester feedback: “One of my earliest memories from childhood is eating honeysuckle nectar from a bush that grew in a friend's backyard,” says commerce producer Sarah Hoffmann. “This scent sends me rocketing back to the standing with her near the bushes, meticulously picking the delicate white flowers. This fragrance captures that whole scene. There's a touch of the nectar's syrupy sweetness, balanced beautifully by notes of the plant itself, the flowers, and a touch of something smoky that gives it a tea-like finish. It's a floral gourmand for floral and gourmand skeptics. Being wrong about this scent was a pleasure.”
Key notes: honeysuckle, smoked green tea, smoked leather accord | Available sizes: 2.5 ounces
Best Spicy Floral: Frédéric Malle Carnal Flower Parfum
Frédéric Malle
Carnal Flower Parfum
Allure contributing editor Deanna Pai holding a bottle of the Frédéric Malle Carnal Flower Parfum
Why it's worth it: As its name suggests, the Frédéric Malle Carnal Flower perfume smells more animalistic than the usually tame fragrances that live in the floral category. Its key scent is tuberose absolute, an intense and much more heady flower than more common notes, which the brand incorporated in a high concentration for a long-lasting and intense scent. Its floral body is enhanced with hints of sweet melon, spicy camphor, and white musk.
Tester feedback: “I’ll say it: If you don’t like tuberose, you’re going to hate this—which makes this a risky blind buy,” says contributing editor Deanna Pai. “However, it has a low-key spiciness that make it feel elegant and kind of sexy. If you’re down to explore more polarizing florals than your usual roses and gardenias, then it’s worth a shot.”
Key notes: tuberose, melon, camphor, white musk | Available sizes: 0.3 ounces, 1.7 ounces, 3.4 ounces
Best Earthy Floral: Khloe Kardashian XO Khloé Eau de Parfum
Khloé Kardashian
XO Khloé Eau de Parfum
Hussein holding a bottle of the Khloe Kardashian XO Khloé Eau de Parfum
Why it's worth it: Florals and earthy notes are a match made in fragrance heaven, and the Khloe Kardashian XO Khloé Eau de Parfum is a masterclass in combining an ecosystem into one stunning fragrance. The formulators enhance the subtle, powdery scent of roses by crystallizing the petals in sugar before extracting its scent, adding an ever-so-slightly sugary layer to its flowery mix of orange blossom water, sage blossoms, and lavender. Its sweetness is further heightened with hints of sugary praline and juicy peach, while a combination of moss, tonka bean, soft woods, and musk bring the fragrance back to its earthy roots.
Tester feedback: “I’m usually not one for a celebrity fragrance, but the Khloe Kardashian XO Khloé Eau de Parfum has undeniably made me rethink my stance,” says Hussein. “I love its warm, woody blend that brings in just about all that earth has to offer: juicy orange blossom water, camphorous sage, and candied rose petal are just the tip of this scent’s stacked blend.”
Key notes: crystallized rose petals, lavender, sage blossom, orange blossom water, praline, peach, moss, tonka bean, soft woods, musk | Available sizes: 3.4 ounces
