The Swedish pop group ABBA are celebrating the 50th anniversary of their 1975 self-titled record. The album includes hits like “Mamma Mia,” “SOS,” and “I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do.” The anniversary edition of ABBA is out June 13.

The ABBA anniversary has a few different components. The album itself will be reissued as a half-speed mastered 45RPM 2LP vinyl. The package includes new liner notes, along with a limited-edition box set of the four vinyl singles, originally released by Polar in 1975; the singles are also available as separate picture discs in see-through plastic bags. A new line of vintage-inspired apparel will accompany the release. Additionally, the music videos for “Bang-A- Boomerang” and ‘I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do” will receive 4K upgrades.

ABBA was the group’s first album after their performance of “Waterloo” won the 1974 Eurovision Song Contest, introducing Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson, and Frida Lyngstad to a global audience. The album’s opening track, “Mamma Mia” was ABBA’s first No. 1 in the UK since “Waterloo” while “I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do” topped the charts in Australia.

“SOS” became a huge hit in the UK, reaching No. 6. ABBA performed the track on American Bandstand and Saturday Night Live during their first trip to the United States. The song was also released in Swedish, appearing on Fältskog 1975 solo album Elva Kvinnor I Eet Hus (Eleven Women In One House), which was released just after the ABBA version had become a hit.
Last year, a box set featuring ABBA’s full catalog of A-sides celebrated the 50th anniversary of the breakthrough “Waterloo” win. The Singles – The First Fifty Years updated ABBA’s 1982 compilation The Singles – The First Ten Years, adding the singles released in conjunction with the group’s 2021 reunion album Voyage.
