Harry Styles was involved in an altercation with an autograph seeker this week in New York City and now that man is speaking out to take blame for the incident.

The moment happened while Harry was walking through the Lower East Side neighborhood while on his way to Madison Square Garden for his show on Wednesday (October 21).

The autograph seeker kept following Harry down the street and then it appeared the singer had enough of being followed and said something to the man.

TMZ has video footage of Harry and the autograph seeker exchanging words, though it’s unclear what they were saying.

The man, whose name is Giovanni, credits himself as the “world’s top autograph seeker” and posts his POV videos following celebrities around New York City.

Giovanni shared TMZ’s headline saying “Harry Styles Goes Off On Man Asking for Autograph on NYC Street” and said that is “not what happened.”

“Harry didn’t lose his cool. I did. He stayed calm and even helped calm me down,” Giovanni wrote in a statement on his Instagram page.

He continued, “I want to clear up some of the headlines about my recent encounter with Harry Styles in NYC. Harry has always been a gentleman to me, going all the way back to 2012 when he first signed for me. The truth is, I was having a bad day and I was out of line. Harry was actually totally chill about the whole situation and even helped calm me down. The headlines suggesting Harry lost his cool couldn’t be further from the truth. If anything, I was the one who needed to cool down. I take full responsibility and sincerely apologize to Harry. He’s always been cool with me, and he deserves nothing but respect.”

There are rumors about Harry working on a new concert documentary.
