Speaking to People ahead of his 30th anniversary, the weatherman said “I love what I do. I feel good. I love this job. I love doing it. At some point I guess I won’t be, but I don’t feel like that’s anytime soon, so I’m just gonna keep going.”

Joining the show in 1996, Al has been a staple and says he feels “really, really fortunate” to have been able to work on the show for as long as he has.

He also recalled one particularly incredible day about 10 years ago where there was “one 24-hour period out in California,” when he got to interview Don Rickles, Betty White, Carl Reiner, and Dick Van Dyke.

“And it was like, wow, I’m a kid from Queens out doing this,” Al said of the memory.

When asked about what he wants his legacy to be, Al said, “People, when they watch, that they didn’t feel like I wasted their time. And that hopefully they felt better after watching than before.”

Find out where Al Roker ranks among the richest Today hosts.
