All four seasons of a teen drama are scheduled to exit Netflix’s content library next month. The series follows a troubled teen who gets a second chance at life at a family ranch, where she forms a bond with a racehorse.

All seasons of Wildfire will exit Netflix in May

Netflix will remove Wildfire Seasons 1-4 from its streaming platform on Thursday, May 21, 2026.

The story centers on Kris Furillo, a teenager fresh out of a juvenile detention center. After a volunteer at the center notices Kris’s talent with horses, they help her get a job at the Ritter family’s ranch. There, she begins working with horses, especially a racehorse named Wildfire. Meanwhile, the family works towards making money to save the ranch through horse racing.

Michael Piller and Christopher Teague created the show for ABC Family. It stars Genevieve Cortese as Kris, Micah Alberti as Matt, Ryan Sypek as Kenneth, Nicole Tubiola as Dani, James Read as Ken, Greg Serano as Pablo, among others.

Wildfire premiered on ABC Family in June 2005. It ran for three years, with the finale titled “The Ties That Bind: Part 2” airing on May 26, 2008. Over the four seasons, it has 52 episodes. The viewers had a very positive opinion of the show for its themes of redemption, family bond, personal growth, romance, and more. As a result, Season 1 received an 80% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

Unfortunately, the series ended early due to inconsistent viewership. Reportedly, Season 1 averaged a little over 1 million viewers each week, with Season 2 jumping to 1.5 million. Season 3, however, dropped to 1 million viewers. Subsequently, the network later announced the show’s cancellation after the final season aired.

After the news broke out, the show’s fans petitioned ABC Family to revive Wildfire. But the network stood by its decision, citing low viewership numbers. Despite the early cancellation, the show wrapped up the story on a satisfying note.

Netflix subscribers have a limited time to stream Wildfire on the platform before it leaves next month.
