Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayAll six seasons of a highly popular raunchy comedy will be leaving Netflix’s content library next month. Led by Sarah Jessica Parker, the show became one of HBO’s most-watched titles in the early 2000s.
Netflix to remove Sex and the City very soon
Sex and the City Seasons 1-6 will not be part of Netflix’s library from Tuesday, June 30, 2026.
The show follows four best friends living in New York City as they navigate romance, heartbreak, careers, and friendship. The story is mainly told through Carrie Bradshaw, a columnist for the fictional New York Star, who writes about her experience with love and dating. It blends humor and romance while exploring modern relationships
Darren Star, creator of Younger and Emily in Paris, developed the show for HBO. The cast features Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis, Cynthia Nixon, Chris Noth, and David Eigenberg, among others.
The series is based on Candace Bushnell’s The New York Observer column of the same name, which began on November 28, 1994. All of her columns were collectively published as a book in 1996, which later inspired the show.
The column and show’s lead character, Carrie Bradshaw, is Bushnell’s alter ego. However, during an interview with The New Yorker, the writer said that she couldn’t relate to the show’s version of the character anymore. “Carrie Bradshaw ended up being a quirky woman who married a really rich guy. And that’s not my story, or any of my friends’ stories. But TV has its own logic,” she explained.
Sex and the City was a monumental success for HBO and even became a cultural phenomenon thanks to its modern, bold themes. The first episode debuted on June 16, 1998, and reportedly drew 3.7 million viewers. The viewership only continued to grow over the years. It ran for six years, totaling 95 episodes. The finale, titled “An American Girl in Paris: Part Deux,” aired on February 22, 2004. More than 10.6 million viewers tuned in to watch it.
On Rotten Tomatoes, the show has an average Tomatometer score of 70% and a Popcornmeter score of 81%. Moreover, it also received an impressive 55 Primetime Emmy nominations across six seasons.
