These decisions arrived as platforms locked in their 2026-2027 lineups. The cuts affected titles across Prime Video, Fox, NBC, Netflix, and The CW.
List of recently canceled TV shows in April and May 2026
Gen V
Prime Video canceled Gen V after two seasons on April 24, 2026. The Boys spin-off premiered in September 2023 and aired its second season in 2025. “We’re committed to continuing the Gen V characters’ stories in The Boys season five and other VCU projects on the horizon. You’ll see them again,” Eric Kripke and Evan Goldberg said.
Going Dutch
Fox canceled Going Dutch after two seasons on May 4, 2026. The Denis Leary sitcom premiered in 2025 and saw its second season end last month. The cancellation arrives as Fox readies its 2026-2027 broadcast season slate.
Brilliant Minds
NBC canceled Brilliant Minds, the sophomore drama starring Zachary Quinto, on May 3, 2026. The show posted NBC’s lowest linear drama ratings this season. NBC removed it from its schedule in February, replacing it with two-hour Voice episodes.
Stumble
NBC also axed Stumble, the cheerleading mockumentary led by Jenn Lyon, after one season. The comedy earned an 82% critics’ score and 96% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. Those numbers did not translate into a viable linear audience.
Renewed for the Last Season
The Night Agent
Netflix announced that The Night Agent will end with its upcoming fourth season. Creator Shawn Ryan confirmed he always planned to deliver a proper conclusion to Peter Sutherland’s journey. The final season is currently in production and will likely stream in 2027.
Son of a Critch
Mark Critch announced the fifth season of Son of a Critch will be the CBC comedy’s last. Production on the 12-episode final season continues in St. John’s, Newfoundland, until June 18. The series earned a 2026 Canadian Screen Award nomination for Best Comedy Series.
