Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayNBC’s canceled sci-fi series, which landed on Netflix last week, has emerged as a hit for the streaming giant. The show explores a fascinating story in which a sinkhole in the middle of Los Angeles sucks hundreds of citizens into a prehistoric era.
La Brea is doing very well on Netflix
As of May 5, NBC’s La Brea is currently #6 on Netflix’s Top 10 series list in the United States, per FlixPatrol. The show arrived on the platform on May 1 and has since stayed on the Top 10 list, though it peaked at #3 during the weekend. Nonetheless, it still has a strong viewership, landing it high on streaming charts.
Meanwhile, WWE Raw, which streams live every Tuesday, is leading the charts. It is followed by the Netflix documentary Should I Marry A Murderer? at #2, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II’s Man on Fire at #3, and BBC One’s Lord of the Flies at #4.
La Brea follows the Harris family after a massive sinkhole suddenly opens at La Brea Tar Pits, an active paleontological research site in Los Angeles. It swallows hundreds of people, transporting them to 10,000 BC, where the world is overrun by dangerous, prehistoric creatures. Eve Harris and her son, Josh, are among the victims of the incident. Meanwhile, Eve’s husband, Gavin, and daughter, Izzy, investigate the sinkhole after Gavin gets visions of the underworld.
Season 2 followed a year later, on September 27, 2022. Sadly, the viewership was half of the previous season, resulting in 1.7 million viewers. Although viewership jumped to 2.42 million for Season 3, NBC had canceled the show by the time the final season aired.
Despite its intriguing concept and impressive visuals, La Brea didn’t resonate with viewers, who majorly criticized the story. On Rotten Tomatoes, it has an average user score of 45% for all three seasons.
