"It was not true," she explained of the rumors. "Ellen's wonderful, and she's just been a support system. If anything, she was a great example to Stephen. They had a great relationship, and he loved that relationship with her.”

“They had something that was so special,” the 36-year-old added. “I hope people can see that that bond is something that we shouldn't tear down."

After all, Ellen has proved time and time again how much she truly cared for her longtime collaborator. On the first anniversary of his death, she honored him by sharing some of her most cherished memories from the time they spent together.

"We went to Vegas, one of the last trips we did," she said in a December 2023 video posted to Instagram. "We saw Silk Sonic, and we both were huge fans. That was really fun, singing to each other, and just being in Vegas together was really fun."

But aside from the memorable trips they took together, the 67-year-old held the everyday moments they shared closest to her heart.  

"I loved that every single day after the show," she recalled, "we would sing and dance to some song and then we would make each other laugh somehow. And then we would walk off arm in arm and walk to my dressing room, which was the first one we got to. And I would say, 'I love you,' and he would say, 'Love you much.' And then he would walk off to his. I miss that."

And just days after his tragic passing, Ellen revered his memory by sharing a montage of moments they had together while working on the show.

"Right now what I want to do is remember all the love and laughter I had with tWitch," Ellen wrote on Instagram at the time, alongside videos of the DJ throughout the years. "He brought so much joy to my life. I know he brought joy to yours too. I'm going to be sharing some of my favorite moments with him. If you want to you can also share yours."

"Over a decade ago I met someone who changed my life and our show," she added. "I love you so much. I don't want to say goodbye."
