U2 is releasing a powerful song dedicated to Renee Good, the 37-year-old mother killed by a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer in Minneapolis.

The song is called “American Obituary,” and is featured on their new 6-track EP, U2 Days of Ash.

The accompanying music video includes the text: “Renee Nicole Macklin Good was great.”

The release also came along with a digital magazine, in which Bono spoke about the song’s meaning, calling it a “song of fury… but more than that a song of grief.”

“Not just for Renee but for the death of an America that at the very least would have had an inquiry into her killing… for her family as well as the credibility of law enforcement and the critical role they play in keeping the peace, keeping the citizenry safe,” he wrote.

“U2’s been banging on about America most of our artistic life… this is a country we love and has loved us back. Amazingly…Americans for the most part have given U2 and me in particular permission to mouth off… And on this stuff I think people know that I’ve been an equal opportunity pest on the left as well as the right,” Bono went on to say.

Romanucci & Blandin, the law firm representing her late family and partner, issued a statement from both Becca Good and her family, via The Hill.

“Renee didn’t just believe in kindness; she lived it, fully and fiercely. She would be deeply moved by this tribute from U2, and would hope it makes a difference in the world,” Becca said.

“It is an incredible honor to have the talent and impact of U2 spreading a message of peace in Renee’s name,” her family said in a statement.

Bruce Springsteen also paid tribute to her in a song recently.
