Zahara Jolie got her diploma.
The daughter of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt graduated from Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia, May 17, with a Bachelor of Arts in psychology.
Zahara appeared onstage to accept her diploma where she was introduced as Zahara Marley Jolie, seemingly confirming that she had dropped her father's last name, as seen in footage shared to social media.
Ahead of Zahara’s milestone day, he was joined by Angelina —also mom to kids Maddox, 24, Pax 22, as well as 17-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne—mother-daughter brunch the 21-year-old spoke to the power of her bond with her mother.
"It felt challenging to find the words,” she said in speech at the Pearls of Purpose Foundation Scholarship Mother Daughter Luncheon April 26 as seen in footage shared to social media. "Not challenging because I don’t value it, but because my mom and I have a unique, almost kindred relationship that can be hard to put into words.”
Alluding to her 2005 adoption—Angelina and Brad adopted Zahara during a trip to Ethiopia at the time—the college student noted the love she and her mother share is “a found one.”
“I was adopted at six months old and given some of the most special and loving people as my siblings,” Zahara went on, “with a mom who raised us on the value of helping others, being kind and always striving for growth as people.”

As the then-college senior put it, "I am grateful to have had a role model show me what it looks like to be a decent human being."
Zahara also nodded to the struggle of being raised in the spotlight as a result of having two famous parents.

“With the addition of the public life that we live, it can be difficult to find those special and intimate moments without being overwhelmed with the many eyes that are on us," she explained. "This has never stopped my mom from being curious about all that I am learning in and outside of my classrooms at Spelman.”
Zahara also emphasized her Angelina's impact on her values and sense of self.
“She is the most selfless, loving and understanding woman that I get to call my mom,” she said of the Salt actress. “I think back to a quote I saw years ago that said ‘I am a strong woman because a strong woman raised me.’ Thank you, Mom.”
