Anna Wintour is not in The Devil Wears Prada 2.

Although she suggested she could make a cameo in the film during an interview last month, the 76-year-old Vogue editor is not in the forthcoming sequel.

During an appearance on the Back Row podcast, the movie’s director David Frankel explained why that didn’t happen, and why they never asked.

“That felt too meta to us to put her in the movie,” he revealed, wondering, “What world are we in?”

Anna did visit the set at one point as they filmed at Dior’s offices.

“She did visit the set…she took a photo with the cast,” he explained, adding that she also filmed a “gag take” while on the set, but it wasn’t good enough to be used.

“Unfortunately, Anna jumped her cue, so the shot isn’t always in focus. And I didn’t want to do a second take. I can’t ask Anna to do take two,” he went on to explain.

The movie’s screenwriter Alina Brosh McKenna added that Anna gave a note to production about the floral arrangements on set.

“It was in the Dior set, and she was standing by the monitor with me. And she said ‘there should be flowers,’” the screenwriter began.

“No, she said the flowers are the wrong color…Dior would only have white flowers,” David recalled.

“But also there’s too many of them….too many. So I came running out and I was like ‘David, kill the flowers.’ And then we only have one vase,” Alina explained. Watch above!
