Some plot details for Ari Aster‘s new movie Scapegoat, which will star Scarlett Johansson, have reportedly been revealed. Johansson was announced as the film’s lead in May, and it will be distributed by A24. Aster has previously worked with the studio on critically acclaimed movies like Hereditary and Midsommar.

According to a report by Nexus Point News, the plot details for Scarlett Johansson and Ari Aster’s new movie, Scapegoat, have been revealed.

The report suggests that Johansson will play a surgeon who has to operate on a character inspired by influencer-turned-boxer Jake Paul. However, things take a turn when the operation goes awry, and the patient dies. The film will then most likely focus on the consequences that hit Johansson’s character following the death.

It further suggests that Johansson’s character will face major hurdles from the movie’s main antagonists, who will be the deceased character’s wife, reportedly inspired by Turning Point USA CEO Erika Kirk, and his brother, inspired by WWE star and content creator Logan Paul. However, it has not yet been confirmed whether the film will follow the aforementioned plot. Following the film’s announcement, it was revealed that, in addition to directing, Aster will also write the script and produce the film. Aster will be joined by Lars Knudsen as co-producer for their Square Peg banner.

Johansson has a packed schedule and recently wrapped filming on Mike Flanagan’s new Exorcist movie. Moreover, she is set to appear next in The Batman Part 2, directed by Matt Reeves. Johansson will join her Marvel co-star Sebastian Stan in the superhero film. While there is speculation about her role in the movie, Reeves hasn’t provided any updates on it yet. The sequel is currently being filmed with Reeves sharing snaps from set on social media.
