The police have reportedly shared that a body was found in the water in the search for missing University of Alabama student James “Jimmy” Gracey. They have not confirmed the identity of the person recovered.

Jimmy, 20, was last seen in the early morning hours on Tuesday (March 17) outside of a club in Barcelona, Spain, where he was on vacation.

“Good afternoon, we inform you that Mossos officers have located the lifeless body of a person in the water in the Somorrostro area. Efforts are underway to identify the body,” police said in a translated statement (via a Fox affiliate). NewsNation has also confirmed a body was discovered.

Jimmy is the nephew of CNN senior producer David Gracey.

His mom, Therese, posted, “My college aged son is visiting friends who are studying abroad. The went to Shoko last night. The police have his phone but he never made it back to his air bnb.” She also added, “he was wearing a white t shirt and dark pants (probably joggers). He wears a gold chain with a rhinestone cross on it. He was last seen by a friend at around d 3 am. The air bnb is at Ronda de Sant Pere.”
