Border Patrol Commander Greg Bovino & Some of His Agents Expected to Leave Minneapolis, Sources Say

Controversial Border Patrol commander Greg Bovino and some of his fellow agents are expected to leave Minneapolis imminently.

The reports come from multiple sources who have conveyed this to outlets like CNN and CBS News.

Bovino‘s departure from the Minnesota capital would come after the fatal shooting of ICU nurse Alex Pretti over the weekend.

Reports suggest that administration officials have become frustrated with Bovino‘s handling of Pretti‘s death.

A little less than 24 hours after the shooting, Bovino applauded the agents for “taking him down” and said the agents were the “victims,” per USA Today.

“The victims are the Border Patrol agents. I’m not blaming the Border Patrol agents,” he said. “The victims are the Border Patrol agents. The suspect put himself in that situation.”

On the day of the shooting, he claimed that Pretti intended to cause “maximum damage and massacre law enforcement” agents, but did not elaborate or offer evidence to support his claims.

Bovino has become the face of President Donald Trump‘s immigration enforcement operation in Minnesota and his appearances since the shooting have only heightened criticism against the administration.

His aggressive tactics have drawn widespread disapproval. CNN reported his tactics as participation “in highly choreographed and publicized shows of force.”

The reports suggesting Bovino will be leaving Minnesota come after Trump announced he would be dispatching border czar Tom Homan to Minnesota, an experienced agent who started his career as a police officer and led ICE’s deportation efforts during Barack Obama‘s presidency. He will become the “main point of contact” in Minneapolis.

Homan has favored a more targeted approach to immigration enforcement focused on public safety and national security, contrasting with the broader sweeps seen in cities nationwide amid Trump’s second term.

Many celebrities have reacted to Pretti‘s shooting at the hands of an ICE agent.
