Charlie Sheen and Emilio Estevez reunited for a rare photo together. 

Thirty-eight years after the release of their hit 1988 movie “Young Guns,” Sheen, 61, Estevez, 64, and their co-stars got together at Fan Expo in Dallas, Texas, on Saturday.

Fellow “Young Guns” cast member Lou Diamond Phillips posted a photo of himself on social media, along with Sheen, Estevez, Casey Siemaszko, Kiefer Sutherland and Dermot Mulroney with the caption, “F’ing Epic!”

Fans were enthused by the rare cast reunion, including “SNL” star Kenan Thompson, who commented with fire emojis. 

The movie was a Western, fictionalizing the real-life outlaw Billy the Kid, played by Estevez. It earned $56 million on an $11 million budget, and was followed by a sequel in 1990. 

Sheen wasn’t in the second flick, since his character was killed in “Young Guns.” 

During an October 2025 appearance on the podcast “Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend,” Sheen confessed how he felt “awful” about his brother’s ‘80s success as a member of the “Brat Pack,” because Sheen hadn’t found his own success yet, prior to his breakout roles in “Platoon” and “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off,” both in 1986. 

Estevez rose to fame first with 1983’s “The Outsiders” and 1985’s “The Breakfast Club.” 

“I felt like I was just taking up the rear. I felt like a valet on certain nights,” Sheen said.

Neither Estevez nor their father, Martin Sheen, 86, participated in Sheen’s 2025 Netflix documentary “aka Charlie Sheen,” which covered Sheen’s struggles with addiction, and public downfall.

Though, in November 2025, director Andrew Renzi told Tudum that Sheen’s father and brother didn’t sit out his doc because there was bad blood in the family.

“They are fully supportive of it and love it. They are all very close,” Renzi said. 

“Young Guns” was a rare project the brothers did together. They also co-starred in the 1999 Showtime movie, “Rated X,” and Estevez had a cameo on “Two and a Half Men” in the Season 6 episode “The Devil’s Lube,” which aired in 2008.

During a joint interview with Interview Magazine in September 2025, Estevez noted that he frequently gets asked about working together. “Have we already ticked that box?” he asked.  

Sheen replied, “That’s a great question,” and didn’t offer an answer.

In January 2025, “The Breakfast Club” alum announced that he would direct and star in “Young Guns 3: Dead or Alive,” and joked that the title should be “Old Guns.” 

At the time, he announced that Diamond Phillips and Christian Slater would also star.

Sheen quipped to Interview Magazine that he died “on page 52” of “Young Guns.” 

Estevez replied, “Right. It’d be hard to bring you back for part three.” 

“The Might Ducks” actor hasn’t provided further updates about the status of a third “Young Guns” movie.
