Call of Duty is heading to theaters. Paramount and Activision revealed on Thursday (April 16) that the upcoming untitled movie, based on the hit video game series, is set to be released on June 30, 2028. Keep reading to find out more… The Peter Berg-directed film, co-written by the director and Taylor Sheridan is “designed to thrill its massive global fan base by delivering on the hallmarks of what fans love about the iconic series, while boldly expanding the franchise to entirely new audiences,” per an official release. “One of the most successful video game entertainment franchises of all-time, Call of Duty has topped more than 1 billion players and generated over $35 billion in revenue over its lifetime while driving pop culture conversations for over two decades.” There are no casting details revealed just yet. The co-writers are also friends, and previously worked together on 2016′s Hell or High Water, as well as 2017′s Wind River. Since launching in 2006, the Call of Duty franchise has become one of the most long-running and iconic video game franchises in history, so it’s not a big surprise that dozens of celebrities have made cameos or lent their voices to the game.
