Disney Star Carla Jeffery's Family Responds to Claim Drugs Were Involved in Her Death

Carla Jeffery’s family is clearing up misinformation.

Shortly after the Disney star’s management shared she died Sept. 1 at the age of 33, Jeffery’s family refuted rumors that drugs were involved.

A family spokesperson told TMZ that Jeffery died in her California home, adding, “She did not do drugs."

Her family also told the outlet there was no foul play involved in the actress’ death and noted that police are not involved. They said they are currently awaiting autopsy results before sharing additional information regarding Jeffery’s death to ensure the information is accurate.

The coroner also told TMZ that Jeffery’s case is still pending and there is currently no cause or manner of death.

Jeffery began her acting career at the age of 12, costarring in 2006’s Phat Girlz. She continued her career on Southland, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and Curb Your Enthusiasm.

However, she was best known for her roles on the Disney Channel series Good Luck Charlie and Shake It Up, as well as playing the character of Bree in the Disney Zombies franchise.

Jeffery’s management team mourned her death in a Sept. 2 Instagram post, writing, “We will remember her infectious smile, her laughter, her talent, and the beautiful light she carried everywhere she went.”

“Our deepest love and condolences are with Carla’s family and loved ones,” they added. “We ask that their privacy be respected during this incredibly difficult time.”

Jeffery was also remembered by Zombies costar Meg Donnelly, who shared a heartbreaking tribute to her friend.

“I have been in a state of denial,” Donnelly posted to Instagram Sept. 3 alongside photos of Carla through the years. “I feel like i keep waiting for something before i believe it’s actually real. carla is truly a one of a kind. the most strong-willed, beautiful person. the most contagious laugh i’ve ever heard.”

The 26-year-old explained that she originally didn’t want to post anything because it felt “so strange and unnatural to me in a time so devastating,” but then she thought about what Jeffery would have wanted.

“I know she’s waiting for a post of all of us smiling, laughing, loving each other,” she added, “because that’s what she always did. So, here you go my beautiful Carla. thank you for being such a huge part of my life. i love you always."
