Carlos Alcaraz Seals Youngest Career Grand Slam at 22 With Australian Open Win Over Novak Djokovic

History made!

Carlos Alcaraz wins the Australian Open tennis tournament on Sunday (February 1) at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena during a four-set thriller against Novak Djokovic, 2-6, 6-2, 6-3, 7-5.

The 22-year-old Spaniard just became the youngest man to complete a Career Grand Slam by winning the Australian Open, Roland Garros, Wimbledon, and the US Open. This is his seventh Grand Slam title – French Open (2024, 2025), Wimbledon (2023, 2024) and US Open (2022, 2025).

“Nobody knows how hard I’ve been working to get this trophy,” Carlos, who pulled in $2.75 million in prize money told his team during his victory speech. “It was bit of a roller coaster emotionally and not hearing what people were saying before Australia…this trophy is always yours.”

Novak, 38, was in pursuit of his 25th Grand Slam. “What you have been doing is historic and legendary,” he said of Carlos during his acceptance speech.

Yesterday, Kazakhstan’s Elena Rybakina defeated world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in a thrilling three set final, 6-4, 4-6, 6-4.
