Charlize Theron is clarifying her recent comments about Timothee Chalamet.

In a recent interview, the 50-year-old Oscar-winning actress slammed the 30-year-old Marty Supreme actor after he said offhandedly suggested that “no one cares” about ballet or opera.

“[In] 10 years, AI is going to be able to do Timothee’s job, but it will not be able to replace a person on a stage dancing live,” she said.

While attending NYC premiere of her new movie Apex on Wednesday (April 22), Charlize admitted that she was “talking out of my ass” when she made those comments.

“But I assume that a living, live performance would be hard [to replicate],” she continued. “And then someone’s like, ‘There’s a dancing robot in Hong Kong’ — but he’s not Misty Copeland.”

Timothee caught a lot of flack when he first made those controversial comments about ballet and opera.

“I don’t want to be working in ballet, or opera, or things where it’s like, ‘Hey, keep this thing alive, even though like no one cares about this anymore,’” he said during a CNN Town Hall event earlier this year. “All respect to all the ballet and opera people out there.”
