Chuck Negron has passed away at the age of 83.

The lead vocalist of the rock band Three Dog Night died on Monday (February 2), his publicist confirmed to Variety.

Keep reading to find out more…

Chuck‘s rep said that he died “peacefully” and surrounded by family while at home in Studio City, Calif. A cause of death is not known, but the report notes he “struggled with heart failure in his final months, in addition to the chronic COPD he had dealt with for three decades.”

Three Dog Night was founded in 1967 and the band achieved 21 songs that reached the Top 40, including their smash hits like “Joy to the World (Jeremiah Was a Bullfrog)” and “One (Is the Loneliest Number).”

Chuck and his band members Danny Hutton and Cory Wells disbanded between 1976 and 1981 amid Chuck‘s struggles with drugs. The group got back together for a few years until there was another fallout in 1985.

Chuck‘s obituary noted that he and Hutton reunited in the last year “in a timely effort to exchange apologies and bury the hatchet.”

We’re sending our thoughts and condolences to Chuck Negron‘s loved ones during this difficult time.

We have sadly lost many stars already in 2026.
