Veteran journalist Kara Swisher has doubled down on her plans to leave CNN very soon, citing the network’s parent company WB’s merger with Paramount Skydance as the primary reason. On the latest episode of Pivot, Swisher told her co-host how she hopes not to be a contributor at CNN for much longer.

Kara Swisher has said that she plans to leave CNN “soon,” citing the proposed merger involving the network’s parent company and Paramount Skydance as the reason for her decision.

Swisher discussed the matter on Tuesday’s episode of Pivot. She explained to co-host Scott Galloway that she hopes to be released from her contract before it expires.

“With the CNN thing, well, you know my feelings on that,” Swisher said on the episode. “I’m leaving as soon as I can.”

Explaining why she does not want to work under the Ellisons, Swisher said, “Let me try to outline it: I don’t want to work for the Ellisons, and I don’t want to work for their handpicked minions because I think they’re incompetent.” She added, “I just don’t see any way that these people make good decisions, and I don’t trust them. That’s it.”

She concluded, “Anyways, there’s a lot of other options, and I’m under contract with them until the end of the year, and I’m hoping they’ll let me out early because I don’t want to affiliate with them. I left James Murdoch, too; this is not a new, fresh thing for Kara Swisher to flounce out and do better.”

Swisher previously discussed leaving CNN as well. In March, she said that she would leave the network if the merger went through, citing the same concerns (via TheWrap). Her latest comments indicate that she continues to hold that position.
