Indira Varma, who portrays the Bride in DC’s Creature Commandos, recently talked about reprising the role in live-action. The animated show, which aired on Max, concluded with its final episode, “A Very Funny Monster,” on January 9, 2025. It is the first official project of the rebooted DC Universe and was written by DC co-CEO James Gunn.

Indira Varma on Nina’s death The Bride’s future after Creature Commandos

The actress recently was part of an interview, where she shared her thoughts on playing her Creature Commandos character in live-action.

When Entertainment Weekly asked about her idea of a live-action portrayal, Indira Varma said, “Yeah, of course! I’m only human. Have you seen what she looks like?” Additionally, she shared her views on the growth the character of the Bride might witness in Season 2.

Varma asserted that Season 1 of Creature Commandos is just “the introduction” of the Bride. The actress stated, “She’s becoming someone who might be able to get over her trauma and start seeing the world in a slightly more positive way.”

With the release of the final episode of Creature Commandos, many viewers witnessed the tragic death of Nina Mazursky, played by Zoë Chao. As Chao’s character Nina and the Bride share a close friendship in the show, Varma also talked about that moment of the finale.

The Game of Thrones star praised Chao as Nina and said, “We got to play off each other. Zoe’s character is so soft and sweet, she’s a really great foil for the Bride’s attitude of ‘f— life, this is all s—‘.” Furthermore, Indira Varma disclosed how Nina’s death played a role in the Bride’s growth and added, “It’s only when Nina’s in trouble that things fall into place and it’s like an awakening. She realizes that she can be more than just a killing machine.”
