One of TV’s longest-running police procedural dramas, Criminal Minds, returns this year for Season 19, with Paramount+ releasing its first trailer. While the show was renamed to Criminal Minds: Evolution during its 16th Season, it’s still the same old police drama fans love.

“Season 19 of Criminal Minds: Evolution returns to Paramount+ with a thrilling new season that pushes our elite profilers to their limits,” reads the upcoming season’s synopsis.

“As the BAU investigates a string of chilling new cases, Elias Voit embarks on a path to atone for his past. His newfound infamy inadvertently awakens their most formidable nemesis yet, The Fan. Precise, calculating, and relentlessly dangerous, this UnSub pushes the BAU to the brink and back under the shadow of Elias Voit. But how far will The Fan go to prove his superiority over his idol?” The upcoming Season is set a year after the BAU solved the Sicarius case in Season 18.

What do we see in the Criminal Minds Season 19 trailer?

The trailer reveals that this Season will introduce a killer who is the show’s “most formidable nemesis yet.” Elias Voit (Zach Gilford) is shown being interviewed for a crime podcast, called The Sicarius Files, before being called by his captors at BAU to stop a copycat killer. The trailer also gives fans a glimpse of Connor Storie (Heated Rivalry), who is one of the many guest stars in the upcoming Season.

Criminal Minds: Evolution stars Joe Mantegna, A.J. Cook, Kirsten Vangsness, Aisha Tyler, Zach Gilford, and RJ Hatanaka with Adam Rodriguez and Paget Brewster. Additional guest stars for Season 19 include Justin Kirk, Yvette Nicole Brown, Clark Gregg, Paul F. Tompkins, Cress Williams, Kofi Siriboe, Lyndon Smith, Richard Cabral, Jeri Ryan, Rob Yang, Nicholas Gonzalez, Inny Clemons, Nicole Pacent, Dash Mihok, Joseph Cross, and Cara Jade Myers.

Beyond the upcoming season, Criminal Minds was recently renewed by Paramount for Season 20, slated to air in 2027. The series will continue under showrunner and executive producer Erica Messer, alongside fellow executive producers Breen Frazier, Chris Barbour, Glenn Kershaw, and Mark Gordon.

Criminal Minds: Evolution will stream on Paramount+ from May 28, 2026, with a two-episode debut, while the entire season will have 10 episodes.
