The collection for Schiaparelli AW 26/27 was a deeply personal manifesto from the creative director, Daniel Roseberry. The collection is called “THE BLISS OF THE ABYSS.” Rather than presenting a conventional inspiration story, Daniel Roseberry reflected on the agony and ecstasy. He revealed that after what he considered a breakthrough season, he initially approached the new collection with an in-depth creative process, only to discover that true innovation could not be engineered.

Inspired by the French expression “l’appel du vide,” or “the call of the void,” and a poem by Rainer Maria Rilke, Roseberry embraced uncertainty as a creative force. The manifesto ultimately reframes couture not as control or mastery but as a foundation where the unknown places become the very place from where the ideas are born. Reflecting Elsa Schiaperelli’s fearless imagination, the collection stands as an exploration of possibility that emerged from stepping into the unfamiliar environment.

Opening Paris Haute Couture Week, Schiaparelli unveiled its AW 26/27 Haute Couture collection under the direction of Daniel Roseberry. The collection celebrates the beauty of uncertainty, encouraging creativity beyond the predictable methods. Rooted in Elsa Schiaparelli’s surrealist vision, Roseberry pushed couture into new shape by transforming unconventional materials such as latex, silicone, and sculpted paint into delicately crafted garments.

The runway unfolded like an underwater fantasy, with models appearing as whimsical sea creatures, while the garments were illuminated with the integrated lighting within that made the whole collection look cinematic and ethereal. More than a display of exceptional craftsmanship, the collection proved that couture’s greatest luxury lies in imagination and the artistry of the hands that bring the impossible ideas to real life.
