Singer-songwriter David Archuleta is a guest on the podcast “The Art of Kindness,” out today (March 9), and Just Jared has an exclusive clip from the interview with host Robert Peterpaul.

The 35-year-old American Idol alum has been promoting his new memoir, “Devout,” and during his interview on the podcast, he revealed he had recently reconnected with Demi Lovato.

If you don’t know, David and Demi go way back to 2009, when he opened for her Demi Lovato: Live in Concert tour.

David said, “Someone that I reconnected with recently, like right before the book came out actually was Demi Lovato. And I thought that was really sweet…the last time we had seen each other, we were both teenagers. And so to reconnect and be like, look at us now, like we’ve gone through so much…to say like…you look great. And she’s like, you look great….we’re doing so well and we’ve grown up and we’ve matured and we’ve gotten through our lows and…the highs and the lows and rollercoaster of life.”

He then shared, “I thought that was really sweet just to like be happy for each other…It hasn’t been easy for her…I went on tour with her. I co-headlined her tour in 2009 and she had to cancel some of that tour. She’s very public about her journey of going to rehab and having to get some help and so to see that she’s in a good place now after that, it’s not easy to do that in front of everybody watching and everybody kind of throwing their opinions at you.”

David added, “But she’s made it here and she’s been recently married and she’s just thriving. Her new music – she’s killing it. So it was a nice kind of reconnection to have.”
