While the recently released Den of Thieves 2: Pantera continues to make waves at the global box office, director Christian Gudegast has come out to confirm his plans for a sequel. The second film in the franchise launched into theatres on January 10, 2025, after a gap of nearly seven years since its predecessor’s release. Pantera takes place two years after the events of the first movie and follows the adventures of Gerald Butler’s Big Nick as the lawman attempts to thwart the criminal intentions of Donnie Wilson in Europe. With the film series gradually gaining momentum among the general public, Gudegast has reassured fans that Den of Thieves 3 is ready to go on production floors.

Christian Gudegast says a sequel to Den of Thieves 2: Pantera is ‘already pitched’

In a recent discussion, accredited filmmaker Christian Gudegast disclosed that he has “already pitched” plans for a Den of Thieves 2: Pantera sequel.

While talking to The Hollywood Reporter, Gudegast encountered a question corresponding to the audience’s enthusiasm for trilogies. Responding to whether he currently has ideas for Den of Thieves 3, Gudegast stated, “It’s already pitched. It’s already done. We’re ready to go.” The interviewer humorously asked the director if they should “knock on wood,” to which the London Has Fallen co-writer replied, “We’re feeling very good about it. But, sure, knock on wood. It doesn’t hurt.”

The original film in the franchise hit the theaters in 2018. Despite facing several production issues, Den of Thieves was able to garner more than $80 million at the global box office against a $30 million budget. The franchise truly began to attract attention following its digital premiere and actively contributed to accelerating Pantera’s release.

While Gudegast’s comments provide an encouraging update on the Den of Thieves 2 sequel, the project does not have an official release date yet. In the meantime, fans can catch Den of Thieves 2: Pantera, which is currently playing in cinemas.
