The SAG Awards are putting safety first.
Amid the ongoing wildfires and devastating winds in Pacific Palisades, Calif., the Screen Actors Guild Awards have opted to cancel their live nominations announcement, set to be hosted by A Family Affair’s Joey King and Monsters: The Erik and Lyle Menendez Story’s Cooper Koch.
“In an abundance of caution for the safety of our presenters, guests, and staff, the life in-person 31st Annual SAG Awards nominations has been cancelled due to the wildfires and adverse wind conditions in Los Angeles,” the statement, shared to X Jan. 8, read. “We look forward to celebrating these incredible actors and their work at the SAG Awards ceremony on February 23.”
The statement concluded, “We urge everyone to stay safe.”
Instead of the live nominations, the upcoming SAG nominees will be issued at 7:30 a.m. PT on Jan. 8 via a press release.
Each year, the SAG Awards honor the best performances in both television and film—voted for and by the actors. Last year, Killers of the Flower Moon’s Lily Gladstone, The Holdovers’ Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Oppenheimer’s Cillian Murphy and Robert Downey Jr. nabbed the night’s highest honors for movies.
Meanwhile, The Last of Us’ Pedro Pascal, The Crown’s Elizabeth Debicki, The Bear’s Jeremy Allen White and Ayo Edebiri and Beef’s Steven Yeun and Ali Wong took home television’s trophies.
And while there are still a few more hours until this year’s nominees will be unveiled, the Emmys and Golden Globes have made some 2025 favorites known. After all, FX’s Shogun has swept in television categories so far—with Anna Sawai, Tadanobu Asano and Hiroyuki Sanada taking home Golden Globes for their performances Jan. 5. (Anna and Hiroyuki also earned Emmys for their performances in September.)

As for films, The Substance’s Demi Moore, I’m Still Here’s Fernanda Torres and Emilia Perez’s Zoe Saldana earned wins in the actress categories, while The Brutalist’s Adrien Brody, A Different Man’s Sebastian Stan and A Real Pain’s Kieran Culkin took home trophies for the actor categories.

The Hills alums shared on Jan. 7 that their home sadly burned down during the Palisades fire in Los Angeles, but that they were able to escape.
Meanwhile, Spencer’s sister Stephanie Pratt shared on Instagram, "I am beyond heartbroken for my brother, Heidi & the kids. And to all of our friends and neighbors who have lost their houses today."

Travis Barker's kids Landon, 21, and Alabama, 19, shared they were forced to leave their residences amid the devastation.
"Just evacuated from my home due to wild fires in Los Angeles, please be safe!!,” Alabama wrote. “They are saying the fires are spreading foodball field amounts in seconds."
Mandy Moore
The This Is Us alum—who is mom to three kids with husband Taylor Goldsmith—shared an update on her family after having to evacuate their home.
"Evacuated and safe with kids, dog and cats,” she wrote on Instagram Stories Jan. 7. “ Praying and grateful for the first responders."
Khloe Kardashian
Sharing a message of gratitude for firefighters and first responders, the Kardashians star wrote in an Instagram Story post, "Thank you for your unwavering dedication and courage in the face of these devastating fires in CA. Your selflessness, resilience and tireless efforts to protect lives and communities are deeply appreciated."

Chris Pratt
"Please send prayers and strength tonight to everyone in Los Angeles affected by these devastating fires," the Marvel star wrote on Instagram Jan. 7. "Los Angeles is in a state of emergency and over 30,000 have been ordered to evacuate."
He added, "Thank you to the brave firefighters and first responders who are working tirelessly to protect lives, homes, and wildlife as they battle fast-moving wildfire fueled by fierce winds. You are true heroes, and we are endlessly grateful for your sacrifice and courage."
