Rob Mills, Walt Disney Television’s EVP of unscripted and alternative entertainment, recently opened up about the fate of The Bachelorette Season 22, which was slated to feature Taylor Frankie Paul. He revealed that The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, which had also paused production, is gearing up to resume. However, he was less certain about the future of The Bachelorette Season 22.

Disney unscripted boss on fate of Taylor Frankie Paul’s Bachelorette Season 22

Walt Disney Television’s EVP of unscripted and alternative entertainment, Rob Mills, recently spoke to The Wrap about the future of The Bachelorette Season 22. It was pulled before it premiered, following the controversy surrounding lead Taylor Frankie Paul.

“We take everything a day at a time,” Mills said about the 22nd season, adding that it was too soon to know if the season would ever see the light of day. “We’re sort of really still processing everything and figuring out … planning for the next cycles of ‘The Bachelor’ franchise, and really just kind of looking at everything, and first and foremost, honestly, just making sure that Taylor, her family, everyone is being taken care of, just on a personal and human front,” he added.

Instead, Mills revealed that ABC was planning to launch a new season of The Bachelor in the midseason of the 2026-27 TV schedule.

Mills was also unsure if there would be a completely new lead for The Bachelor or someone from Taylor Frankie Paul’s season of The Bachelorette. “We’re open to anything,” he said, “I think you saw with ‘Golden Bachelor,’ this is a phenomenal format that you can tell all different types of stories, so I don’t think …. we’re open or not open to anything — I think the most important thing is just telling somebody’s story who has a great journey ahead of them.”

Adding about the canceled season of The Bachelorette, Mills said, “We’re really still processing everything and figuring out … planning for the next cycles of “The Bachelor” franchise, and really just kind of looking at everything. And first and foremost, honestly, just making sure that Taylor, her family, everyone is being taken care of, just on a personal and human front.”
