Donald Trump‘s participation in the dignified transfer of six soldiers who were killed during the war in Iran is getting a ton of attention.

The event took place at Dover Air Force Base on Saturday (March 7) in Dover, Delaware, and the photos quickly went viral as the 79-year-old was seen wearing a baseball cap during it. He saluted the caskets and soldiers with the cap clearly on top of his head.

This caused some outrage online. Veteran Michael Embrich posted on X, “I condemn Donald Trump for refusing to remove his hat during a moment meant to honor our fallen. As a veteran, I find it deeply disrespectful to the men and women who died in combat defending this country. Basic respect for the fallen should never be partisan.”

Some viewers claimed that footage aired by Fox News appeared to be from a different dignified transfer ceremony. The network later said the clip had been aired in error.

Aaron Parnas, a journalist, posted, “Fox News admits to airing an old dignified transfer video on its program this morning, one that did not show Donald Trump wearing a white ball cap.”

Indeed, Fox News did release a statement during their morning news program, where their host explained, “Before we move on we want to acknowledge a mistake made earlier on our program during our coverage of yesterdays dignified transfer. We inadvertently aired video from an older dignified transfer instead of the ceremony that took place yesterday. We deeply regret the error and extend our respective condolences to the service members families. We honor the sacrifice of those six American heroes.”

Trump offered a blunt response to Americans concerned about rising gas costs from this war.
