A red manicure is a forever kinda thing. You can wear red nails pretty much anywhere and everywhere: any shade, any style, any length. It's never going out of style. And with a classic red shade as the base for some springy nail art, you simply can't go wrong! Case in point: Emily Blunt's Devil Wears Prada 2 manicure, which put a sweet, seasonal twist on a timeless red nail.

Red is the signature color of the Devil Wears Prada film franchise, and many of its stars have worn the shade throughout the press run. For the New York City premiere of the much-anticipated sequel, Blunt leaned into the film's promotional color palette with a gorgeously shiny candy-apple red manicure by nail artist Julie Kandalec. But this wasn't your typical red manicure; instead, Kandalec referenced the iconic Devil Wears Prada line about “Florals, for spring?” with a few dainty 3D pearl floral details on each hand.

After prepping and painting Blunt's nails with Essie's Gel Couture Nail Polish in Gala-Vanting, Kandalec painstakingly applied the flower-shaped pearl arrangements on four of Blunt's nails, with designs on the middle and ring finger of each hand. Each flower had a teeny gemstone in the center for a cute but subtle detail. If you're crafting a similar look of your own, Kandalec recommends applying an extra drop of top coat to the base manicure, then dropping in your crystals or pearls right away. Let it dry, then apply another layer of top coat to keep it in place.

Blunt's Devil Wears Prada nails are right on trend, as gem nails have been everywhere so far this spring. There's something so delightfully nostalgic and charming about them—plus it allows you flex your crafting skills! All you need is a pile of gems or pearls and a steady hand to make florals for spring feel, well, groundbreaking.
