ABC’s Good Morning America Weekend anchor, Janai Norman, has spoken out about her abrupt exit in a video message posted on her social media handle. This comes shortly after ABC decided not to renew her contract, with no prior hint that she would be departing. There has been no word about replacing her either.

Janai Norman, who worked as ABC’s Good Morning America Weekend anchor since 2022, had been with ABC since 2011. She learned about her departure over the weekend, as her contract was not renewed by ABC.

Norman posted a video message on X from her official account, commenting on her exit from the show.

“I’d hoped that we’d have more time,” she said in the video message. “And it’s been hard on me that our time was cut short. I have loved my job. It has been a joy to connect with my co-workers and with viewers to help keep you informed and entertained and to create this community.”

She continued, “So it really breaks my heart that I don’t get to say goodbye. I’m so sorry that I don’t get to say goodbye. It would have been fun.” She added, “But I have these three young kids, and I have worked weekends their whole lives, and so now they get more of me, and that is worth everything. So stay tuned. I’m sorry. I feel you and thank you to every single one of you who has reached out with such kind and validating words. I have needed it, and I appreciate it.”

She wrote in the caption of the post, “More in time.”

The news of her departure was first reported in the Status newsletter by Oliver Darcy. There have been no reports of ABC searching for a replacement.
