Isack Hadjar is reportedly missing the first Formula 1 race back in nearly a month.

The 21-year-old French Red Bull driver has suffered a wrist injury while training for the upcoming 2026 Dutch Grand Prix this coming weekend, following the month-long summer break.

Taking his place will be his former Racing Bulls teammate Liam Lawson, who will drive in his seat at the sister team, according to The New Zealand Herald.

This will mark the second time Liam has stepped in for Red Bull at the Dutch Grand Prix for an injury. Back in 2023, he made his F1 debut at the event after Daniel Ricciardo suffered a broken hand from a crash during a free practice session.

With Liam moving up to Red Bull, the two teams’ reserve driver, Yuki Tsunoda, is said to be stepping in for the New Zealander at Racing Bulls.

At the time of this post, the driver swaps have not been officially confirmed, pending one last medical check, RacingNews365 reports.

If you recall, Liam was promoted to Red Bull for the 2025 season, but after just two races, he was replaced by Yuki, and the two swapped seats, with the Japanese driver completing the season at the senior team.

However, after the season ended, Isack was promoted to Red Bull, and Arvid Lindblad was named as his replacement, leaving Yuki without a seat for 2026. Instead, he was signed as a reserve driver for both teams.

More recently, rumors have been swirling that Yuki could be making the move to IndyCar in 2027, though nothing has been confirmed.

So far in 2026, Liam has been doing relatively well in Formula 1. He has consistently made it to the second round of qualifying and currently sits at No 9 in the Drivers’ Championship with 43 points, ahead of his teammate, Arvid Lindblad, by 20. So far this season, Liam has already scored five more points than all of 2025.

There are 12 races left of the 2026 season, with one of the two canceled April races officially being rescheduled for the first weekend of October.

The Bahrain Grand Prix will now take place on October 4th, but it has been moved to the Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia and will officially be called the 2026 Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia.
