While Fear Street: Prom Queen has yet to receive a trailer or exact release date, viewers can expect a bloody good time once it arrives on Netflix as the MPA rating for the upcoming film has been revealed.

What is the MPA rating for Fear Street: Prom Queen?

Fear Street: Prom Queen has landed an “R” MPA rating for “strong bloody violence and gore, teen drug use, language and some sexual references.” As Netflix gears up for its highly anticipated return to Shadyside, R.L. Stine — author of the book series the Fear Street features are based on — revealed three more Fear Street movies are in development.

Directed by Matt Palmer, the upcoming entry in the Fear Street film series will be set in 1988 and is set between the first three installments: Fear Street Part One: 1994, Fear Street Part Two: 1978, and Fear Street Part Three: 1666. The first three movies arrived on Netflix in 2021.

The film is based on Stine’s 1992 book The Prom Queen, marking the first time the franchise has adapted a particular book by the author.

The official synopsis for Fear Street: Prom Queen reads: “In this next installment of the blood-soaked Fear Street franchise, prom season at Shadyside High is underway and the school’s wolfpack of It Girls is busy with its usual sweet and vicious campaigns for the crown. But when a gutsy outsider is unexpectedly nominated to the court, and the other girls start mysteriously disappearing, the class of ’88 is suddenly in for one hell of a prom night.”

The cast includes India Fowler, Suzanna Son, Fina Strazza, David Iacono, Ella Rubin, Chris Klein, Lili Taylor, Katherine Waterston, and Ariana Greenblatt.

The first three installments are available to stream on Netflix. No exact release date has been set yet for Fear Street: Prom Queen, but it is expected to arrive on the streamer sometime this year.
