Britt McHenry claimed she was defending supermodel Winnie Harlow when she got into a heated confrontation at the Washington Wizards vs. Milwaukee Bucks game.
The former US State Department press advisor recalled attending the NBA match with her close friend on Oct. 21 when a man started heckling Harlow, who is the fiancée of Bucks star Kyle Kuzma, she shared via an Instagram video Wednesday.
“It starts with a man in front of us — that looks like a knockoff Patagonia vest — yelling horrible things,” she alleged, recalling the incident at the Capital One Arena in DC.
“It was loud and quite frankly not the type of behavior I have seen in the multitude of games I’ve covered as a journalist or been there as a fan,” McHenry, 40, claimed.
The former ESPN reporter alleged that the unidentified man was insulting Harlow’s appearance and commenting on her vitiligo autoimmune skin condition, which results in patches of skin losing their pigmentation, per Cleveland Clinic.
“I then made a snarky comment,” she continued, admitting that she “probably shouldn’t have.”
“[I] just said, ‘Oh, I’m sure your girlfriend is really beautiful right?'” McHenry said, claiming how another guy in the same row turned to her and said, “Why don’t you shut the f–k up, you dumb bitch.”
“To which I say to him, ‘I wasn’t even talking to you. Who are you?’ And that’s where it escalates,” the journalist added.
At that point, McHenry and her friend leave their seats and head towards the concession stand area, where an employee offered to move them.

However, McHenry didn’t think it was right for them to give up their estimated $300 seats because of “heckling” men who were harassing her.
“In hindsight, I wish we would’ve left,” she said.
When McHenry returned to her seat, the men started throwing drinks and other items at her, her friend and the employee helping them.
“The main agitator says something truly vile to me about what should be done to me, allegedly about getting gang raped outside, and that is when I threw the rest of my beer in that direction,” she stated.
Immediately, McHenry and her friend decided to leave, and the men in the area started allegedly continuing to throw drinks and other items at them.
“They ejected the main agitator guy, they threw him out,” she told her followers.
McHenry included her lengthy statement, saying, “I was sticking up for Winnie Harlow, a woman that I admire and many girls and women look up to, and I was sticking up for myself.”
Page Six exclusively reported on the heated confrontation at the game on Oct. 21
The following day, a source told Page Six that McHenry was forced to resign from her position as the US State Department press advisor covering Europe and Africa after the incident.
An insider explained that McHenry had just been promoted the day the incident occurred.
