Alex Honnold is not afraid to let people know how he goes to the bathroom in the middle of a climb.

The 40-year-old climber, known for the Oscar-winning documentary Free Solo and his Netflix special Skyscraper Live, says that he’ll pee or poop in his pants if he needs.

During an interview on the Hasan Minhaj Doesn’t Know podcast, Alex said, “You just pee and poop. I’ve never actually s–t my pants, but I’ve had a lot of serious emergencies while rock climbing.”

“You just like, freakin’ go,” he added. “But you’re in nature so it doesn’t matter. You just make sure you’re not impacting other climbers.”

Hasan responded, “You just let it run down your leg? Like when you’re at a public pool?”

Alex clarified, “No, no, a little different. There have been some drastic, I mean, there’s been, like, one handed, hanging out the side of a cliff, taking a dump. When things go sideways, things go sideways.”

Alex has revealed how he gets down after his climbs.
