MGM+ has shed light on the future of From, revealing whether Season 5 is renewed or canceled. The announcement ends weeks of speculation for fans of the sci-fi horror series. Since debuting in 2022, From has followed the residents of a nightmarish town that traps anyone who enters.

Has MGM+ canceled From or renewed it for Season 5?

The supernatural thriller series, From, headlined by Harold Perrineau, will end with Season 5 after earning a final-season renewal from MGM+, per The Hollywood Reporter.

Shot in Halifax, Canada, on a purpose-built set, the crew calls “From Town,” From drops viewers into a nightmarish community where entering is easy but leaving seems impossible. After dark, creatures stalk the roads, while spiders, cicadas, and other horrors lurk in the surrounding woods.

However, the decision to end From wasn’t easy, since it’s the highest-rated show on Amazon-owned MGM+. According to creator and executive producer John Griffin, the team was tempted to continue the story with a sixth season. But the writers chose to bring the mystery to a deliberate end rather than let it meander.

“There was a fair amount of soul-searching,” he said. “But we all came to the realization that if we made that sixth season, it would be for us, because it’s just too hard to say goodbye,” Griffin added.

When The Hollywood Reporter asked why it was the right time to end From, Griffin shared that five seasons had always been the plan. He explained that they wanted to let the story decide when to end. The death of Jim in Season 3 felt like the close of the first act, while Season 4 naturally became the start of the finale. The team has told the story exactly as they envisioned, with full backing from Michael Wright and MGM+.

Season 4 premiered on April 19, finally beginning to deliver answers to the show’s sprawling web of puzzles. As for Season 5, the writers’ room is already open, with production expected to start this summer in Halifax. MGM+ is targeting a 2027 release for Season 5, but hasn’t confirmed a specific premiere date.
