[SPOILER] Exits, Replaced By Another Star

The first three episodes of FX’s The Beauty are now streaming on Hulu and there was a major shocker in the second episode!

Ryan Murphy‘s latest series centers around a sexually-transmitted disease that makes its carriers beautiful before suffering gruesome deaths — sending the world of high fashion into crisis mode.

Evan Peters and Rebecca Hall star as FBI agents who are investigating all the deaths and searching for a connection. Also starring in the series are Anthony Ramos, Jeremy Pope, and Ashton Kutcher, alongside a roster of incredible guest stars.

In the second episode, one of the lead actors had a shocking exit and was replaced by another star.

So, who was it? And what happened?

Rebecca Hall exits the role of FBI agent Jordan Bennett in episode two and gets replaced by actress Jessica Alexander.

Barrett has a random hook-up with a hot guy she sees at the hotel bar, but we eventually learn that he was carrying the disease because she ends up going through a Beauty transformation.

Rebecca, as Barrett, goes into the pod and comes out looking younger… and is now played by Jessica. You might recognize her from playing the human version of Ursula in the live-action The Little Mermaid movie or from the new horror film Primate.

In an interview with THR, Rebecca confirms she knew about the twist when she signed on for the project.

“I knew from jump — before I’d even read the script,” she said. “I was told I was going to be a very deliberate bait and switch, sort of like a Janet Lee in Psycho situation that there would be all this expectation I would be there for the whole thing and then — whoop — gone!”

Rebecca and Jessica never filmed together, but they did discuss the role.

“I was long gone, actually, when Jessica did the other part of that transformation,” Rebecca said. “But I did get to hang out with her and we spoke about what was going to happen. It was kind of nice in a way — and odd. It’s not very often that you literally share a character with another actor. There was something interesting about it, passing it on and being like, ‘Alright, good luck, off you go, have fun!’”

Rebecca had a cool fashion moment last month while promoting her new movie.
