Selena Gomez is setting the scene.
For the 2025 Golden Globes, the actress—who is up for two nominations this year for her work in Only Murders in the Building and Emilia Pérez—turned heads on the red carpet with her off-the-shoulder powder blue full-length gown. (And she’s not the only one, for more celebs on the red carpet, click here.)
But it's not just her nominations and chic wardrobe that has Selena feeling great, naturally. As the "Single Soon" singer explained, she's also at a place where she isn't thinking twice about any misinterpretations some might have about her.
"I'm not sure it's more about misconceptions other than the fact that I'm genuinely happy where I am and I feel great," Selena exclusively told Zuri Hall on Live From E!: Golden Globes."People tend to question every part of my life, but that's okay. I think as long as I know where I am and who I’m around, I'm solemn."
However, when it comes to her work in Emilia Pérez, it's safe to say she feels more than solemn about such an achievement.
"I think that this was a wonderful stepping stone," she told E!, "to hopefully showing people how much I care, and I'm willing to go there as as a performer, and it's so liberating. So I just hope more projects to come."
The “Calm Down” singer’s latest nods served as the cherry on top of an eventful year. (After all, she’s also busy celebrating her engagement to Benny Blanco.)
And when it came to expressing her gratitude for her nominations, she understandably couldn’t keep her excitement to herself. In addition to sharing her pride for her "Only Murders fam," which includes Meryl Streep and Martin Short, Selena added of her film nomination on her Instagram Story in December, "I don't even know what to write... I'm so proud of @Zoe Saldana and I am so grateful and honored @goldenglobes."
The 32-year-old added in a statement, "I am truly grateful and humbled to be nominated for two different projects that mean the world to me. This recognition inspires me and motivates me to work even harder. Couldn’t be prouder of my Emilia Pérez and Only Murders family."
And they couldn’t be prouder of her. In fact, her Only Murders in the Building costar Steve Martin previously shared how the actress has grown over the past four years while they’ve worked together.
"When we first met Selena, she was already self-possessed and dignified and sophisticated," Steve exclusively told E! News at the Los Angeles premiere of Only Murders in the Building season four in August. "So, if anything, we've just seen that creep up a little bit, as it should with maturity."
The comedian added, "But he she was already there—a real person we admired and respected."
And that respect goes both ways. As Selena told E! News in the joint interview, airing on Aug. 26 at 11 p.m., "It's just been a joy to have people I can look up to and just be reminded that life is good."
