Groom Arrested on Felony Charge Right Before Tying the Knot in Courthouse Wedding. See What He Was Accused Of

Just as he was about to say “I do,” a groom was arrested on a felony charge.

On Tuesday (March 17), the La Porte County Sheriff’s Office took to Facebook to reveal that they’d arrested Bradley D. Armstrong mere moments before he was going to get married at the La Porte County Courthouse in Indiana.

Comparing the incident to “something straight out of the Wedding Crashers film,” the authorities explained why they they interrupted the couple on what could have been a big day.

Per the news release, the arrest was carried out by Sergeant Swanson and Deputy Ryan described as being “in-house crashers.”

“Bradley D. ARMSTRONG, a convicted and classified Sexual Violent Predator on the Sex and Violent Offender Registry, falsified his marriage license application,” authorities noted, adding, “Whoopsie!”

They continued, “ARMSTRONG failed to disclose himself as a convicted lifetime sex / violent offender, thus resulting in an arrest warrant being issued yesterday for False Information in Marriage License Application – Level 6 Felony, following a criminal investigation.”

Armstrong was taken to the La Porte County Jail, where he was booked.

Despite the arrest, the sheriff’s office ended with the following reminder: “Arrests and criminal charges are mere accusations. Every person is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.”

The groom was registered to the county’s sex offender registry in 2004 after being convicted on the charges on May 17, 2002.
