Orgo-Life the new way to the future Advertising by AdpathwayHilary Duff has already confirmed that her song “We Don’t Talk” is about her older sister Haylie Duff and now she’s shedding more insight into what happened. Rumors surfaced in recent months that the celebrity sisters had a falling out as they never interact with each other on social media and haven’t been seen out in public together since 2019. Then, Haylie appeared to side with Ashley Tisdale during the “toxic mom group” drama. During her chat on the Jay Shetty Podcast, Hilary talked about the song and her experience with her family. Keep reading to find out more… “This is a hard one for me. This is a really tough one. Um, my sister and I don’t speak,” Hilary said. “And I think in my adulthood, I’ve come across more and more people that are having this experience. And as painful as it feels to share, when I decided to make this record, I could only talk about the things that I’ve gone through. Like, there would be no purpose to make a record after 10 years than to face, you know, what it’s been like. So that’s my truth and I really worked hard to lyrically make sure that I’m just speaking about my experience.” She continued, “It’s very hard to be a person who’s like had their life exposed in the industry for 25 years. And we were talking earlier about tiptoeing around kind of what the outcome has been for some of it. But yeah, that’s a very vulnerable song and it’s a very raw part of my existence.” “I hope it’s not forever, but it’s for right now,” she said. “That’s the person I grew up with, the only one.”
Hilary added, “You desire like in family like this picture and that’s not reality a lot of the times for people. And so you’re like you get to a certain age… I mean I have my own family who is put first no matter what. And I’ve gotten to make different rules for my family. But yeah, you you get to a certain age where you’re like, ‘Oh, that doesn’t feel good or that’s not right” or that’s, you know, and it’s very hard to think of family in the way that you grow up thinking of family when yes, so much shifts and changes. And I love my family in certain ways and certain memories. And also like huge struggles have, you know, occurred and not like putting that one responsibility on anybody involved, you know, assuming some myself. So, you know, it’s very complicated.”
Hilary admits that she felt “used” by Tisdale‘s essay.
