One of Netflix‘s most popular crime drama TV shows is officially getting a spin-off from the original series creator. Following the release of Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man movie, Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight has confirmed that he is indeed developing a Netflix spin-off to the acclaimed Cillian Murphy-led gang drama series.

What did Peaky Blinders creator say about the Netflix spin-off series?

During a recent interview with THR, Knight teased his upcoming Peaky Blinders spin-off for Netflix, revealing that the next chapter will center around the new generation of Birmingham gangsters. He also shared that production on the sequel series has already started at his Digbeth Loc. Studios in Birmingham.

“I can’t really talk about it in detail,” Knight said. “I can tell you that it takes place after the war, that it is sort of a new generation, and that it’s really good.”

The original period crime drama lasted for six seasons from 2013 to 2022. It was set in the lawless streets of Birmingham as it tracks the evolution of leader Tommy Shelby (Murphy) from backstreet crime lord to legitimate businessman and member of parliament. It also starred Paul Anderson as Arthur Shelby, Sophie Rundle as Ada Thorne, Finn Cole as Michael Gray, Tom Hardy as Alfie, Anya Taylor-Joy as Gina Gray, Brian Gleeson as Jimmy McCavern, Neil Maskell as Winston Churchill, Sam Claflin as Oswald Mosley, and more.

Nearly four years after the show ended, Murphy has returned to reprise his iconic role in Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man, which is now streaming on Netflix. The film takes place during World War II, featuring Tommy’s now-grown-up son, Duke, played by Oscar nominee Barry Keoghan. Since its debut, the movie has already garnered an approval rating of 91% on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 69 reviews.
