What hit Peacock TV show has been renewed for a second season?
Sky and Universal Television Alternative Studio have renewed Saturday Night Live UK for a second Season, which will stream on Peacock in the U.S, a decision coming before the first Season has even finished airing. The networks have pointed to the great reception of the sophomore season as a key reason for giving Season 2 an early greenlight.
The first Season has been hosted by British celebrities, including Tina Fey, Riz Ahmed, Jamie Dornan, Aimee Lou Wood, and more. The show’s regular cast includes Hammed Animashaun, Ayoade Bamgboye, Larry Dean, Celeste Dring, and more.
SNL creator Lorne Michaels, who produces the UK version, said: “I’m incredibly proud of our team and the show. It keeps getting better every week,” SNL creator Lorne Michaels told Deadline. “I’m grateful to [Sky boss] Dana Strong and Sky for believing in and supporting SNL UK. I’m excited for the season ahead.”
SNL UK was commissioned by Philip Edgar-Jones, Executive Director of Unscripted Originals at Sky, and Season 2 will consist of an extended 12 episodes. While the show hasn’t attracted the best ratings, it has garnered wide critical acclaim and continues to get positive impressions on social media.
“It’s fair to say people doubted SNL would work in the UK, but thanks to Lorne Michaels, his longtime Saturday Night Live producing team and UTAS UK, alongside our brilliant cast and writers, SNL UK is Sky’s most talked about show of the year,” said Edgar Jones. “It’s now firmly part of the cultural conversation and we’re thrilled the show will be returning in the Autumn, bringing laughter and mischief to our audiences, live from London on a Saturday night.”
Saturday Night Live UK streams on Peacock every Saturday. Its second Season will start streaming in Fall 2026.
