Non-final artwork and design▪️ In mid-April 2025, Maestro Media announced the board game Clash of Clans: The Epic Raid, a collaboration with Supercell of that company's Clash of Clans mobile game. This 2-4 player game is co-designed by Eric M. Lang and Ken Gruhl, who previously worked together on Life in Reterra.

As for the gameplay, the current description is brief:

In slightly more detail, Lang describes the game this way: "[P]icture a game that's simultaneously engine building, worker placement and raiding combat, in a tight 90 minute 2-4 player package. A complex, multi-strategy game you can learn as you play, and non-gamers can just stumble through using their app knowledge (even though this is a meaningfully different game)."

On June 17, 2025, Maestro Media launched a crowdfunding campaign for Clash of Clans: The Epic Raid for release in 2026.

▪️ Another iconic digital game getting the tabletop treatment — albeit not for the first time — is Assassin's Creed, with UK publisher Mantic Games announcing a partnership with Ubisoft for Assassin's Creed: Animus, which it describes as "a new board game that will allow players to experience the universe on tabletop like never before".


Beyond that, "Assassin's Creed fans can look forward to a competitive and compelling tabletop game that spans across many popular eras of the legendary franchise".

Mantic Games has a crowdfunding landing page in place for a launch sometime in 2025.

▪️ To continue the "crowdfunded tabletop adaptation of a video game" connection, Monster Fight Club has announced a crowdfunding campaign for Borderlands: Mister Torgue's Arena of Badassery 2.

Borderlands: Mister Torgue's Arena of Badassery 2 will feature new standalone expansions, new campaigns, new rules for skirmish play, and "even more over-the-top action" — indeed, so much action that I'll never be able to follow it.

▪️ Breaking the pattern, in February 2025 Goliath Games announced that in late 2025 it will release "the first-ever board game based on The Sims", with 2025 being the 25th anniversary of the video game's debut and with this game going straight to retail instead of being crowdfunded.

Game details are non-existent at this point, with Goliath stating that "the new board game will bring The Sims into homes around the world with a whole new way to play" and "The Sims board game will capture the spirit of creativity, self-expression, and gameplay that has made the video game a global, pop culture phenomenon".

That said, you do have this image to speculate on.
