Wondering what happens to Monty in Landman finale? The intense episode delivers unexpected twists, life-altering decisions, and a major shake-up at M-Tex that sets the stage for high-stakes drama in Season 2.

Here’s what we know: a shocking loss, power shifts within the company, and dangerous alliances that could change everything for Tommy Norris and those around him.

How is Monty killed off in Landman Season 1 finale?

Monty Miller, the CEO of M-Tex, played by Jon Hamm, dies from heart complications in Landman Season 1’s finale. His health worsens throughout the season, leading to a critical moment in episode 9 when he needs a heart transplant. In the finale, doctors try to stabilize him for surgery, but his aorta ruptures. He dies with his family by his side.

Following Monty’s death, his will designates Tommy Norris, played by Billy Bob Thornton, as the new president of M-Tex. Tommy is also named the executor of Monty’s estate and family trust.

Although he reluctantly takes on the role, he secures Cami Miller (Monty’s wife, portrayed by Demi Moore) and Alan seats on the company’s board. This transition marks a significant leadership change, pushing Tommy to the forefront of M-Tex operations.

Monty’s death leads to major narrative shifts. His wife Cami becomes more involved in M-Tex’s future, aiming to honor Monty’s legacy through philanthropy. Meanwhile, Tommy faces growing threats from the cartel and the oil industry’s volatile landscape. His negotiations with cartel leader Gallino (Andy Garcia) signal heightened conflict, with Tommy aiming to protect M-Tex’s interests amid external pressures.

Monty’s passing allows the show to explore new power dynamics and conflicts in Season 2. As Tommy steps into a leadership role, his interactions with key characters like Rebecca Savage and the cartel intensify. Cami’s financial decisions and philanthropic goals will also shape the future of M-Tex, ensuring Monty’s legacy continues to drive the series forward.
