Eric Dane reflected on how he wants his daughters to remember him before his death from ALS.

The “Grey’s Anatomy” alum said his teenage daughters would remember him as being “pretty tough.”

“They would say I was loving and I was really endearing and compassionate and empathetic and trustworthy,” he said on Netflix’s “Famous Last Words,” which premiered just hours after his death on Thursday at 53. “I’m a good dad.”

The “Euphoria” actor added, “Some of their core memories involve me reacting to something. You know, traffic is always a good impetus for that.”

The actor, who will also appear in “Euphoria” Season 3 in April, reminisced about a family vacation to France.

“For some reason … my French accent was spot on,” he quipped. “I have no idea where that came from [but everyone was laughing]. That’s the best thing. It’s my favorite thing to do — and laugh myself, too.”

He emphasised his priority on “showing up” for his kids.

“I haven’t been perfect with that, but I’ve always been there when it mattered. Well, their mother and I are no longer together. We’re still best friends, but we’re not together.”

Dane attended Georgia’s beach volleyball games, and all of his daughter Billie’s ballet recitals, he said.

“I’ve been to many Nutcrackers, and I’ll tell you, there’s a couple pieces in there that are beautiful but Jesus, that thing drones on, man,” he quipped.

The “Bad Boys: Ride or Die” actor also shared details on his relationship with Gayheart.

“We still love each other deeply. I just think we don’t want to live with each other, but there’s a lot of love there,” he said.

He added that by the time “anyone sees” this interview, he will never, “have fallen in love with another woman as deeply as I fell in love with Rebecca.”

Dane and Gayhart married in 2004.

The actress filed for divorce in 2018, before they called it off in March 2025, one month before he announced his ALS diagnosis in April.

ALS has no cure. Per the Mayo Clinic, it is “is a nervous system disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord,” which progresses over time.

In September, Dane was seen in a wheelchair at an airport in Washington, DC.

In January, he pulled out of an ALS event due to not being “well enough to attend.”

In a statement to People, his family wrote that he will, “be deeply missed, and lovingly remembered always.”

They also describe him as a “passionate advocate” for awareness and research.

“Eric adored his fans and is forever grateful for the outpouring of love and support he’s received. The family has asked for privacy as they navigate this impossible time,” they said.
