The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke addressed the future of Gen V’s scrapped season 3 storyline following Prime Video’s cancellation of the college-set spinoff after two seasons. The executive producer revealed ongoing efforts to keep the show’s characters alive within the broader Vought Cinematic Universe.

Eric Kripke says Gen V Season 3 story might appear in another The Boys spin-off

Eric Kripke revealed to Entertainment Weekly that the team is “internally brainstorming a couple different ideas” for future Vought Cinematic Universe spinoffs. The Boys showrunner confirmed these projects could incorporate elements from the cancelled Gen V season 3 storyline. Amazon ended the college-set spinoff after two seasons last week.

Kripke stressed he played no role in the cancellation decision. He told the outlet, “I did not cancel the show. One, I don’t have the power to do that.” He added, “Two, I was fighting to keep the show, almost more than anybody else on Earth. So I’m as bummed as everybody else out there.”

The executive producer previously expressed excitement about a specific Gen V season 3 concept. He declined to reveal full details but offered a tease about Marie Moreau’s arc. Kripke shared, “This idea that Marie is powerful, but that’s not the end of her story. She has to learn how to control it.”

Amazon has shown willingness to explore additional stories within the Vought universe. Kripke explained, “Amazon has expressed an interest and they want to hear more potential stories in the world.” He noted all brainstormed ideas “have the opportunity to absorb at least some of the Gen V gang, and that’s very much by design.”

Kripke attributed the cancellation to financial considerations beyond his control. He stated, “It’s based on amount of viewers versus how expensive the show is to make, and does it make business sense for them, ultimately?” Marie Moreau and Jordan Li will still appear in later episodes of The Boys’ fifth and final season.

Vought Rising, starring Jensen Ackles and Aya Cash, remains the only confirmed spinoff with a 2027 premiere window.
